On Scene
The DART Team is dispatched to an incident by the Livingston County 911 Dispatch Center.
- A call can be generated by 2nd alarm fire dispatch or at the request of a fire scene Incident Commander or by a fire department Chief.
- When a call is issued the 911 dispatch operator will send out a message via Active 911 app which will alert all members of the Team by cell phone. Smart phones will receive an audible alert and incident description, location and access to a map indicating the shortest route to the incident location.
- The Team member can indicate their availability via the Active 911 app. (We do not use an 'on call' system; all Team members are notified when the Team is needed). The team leadership can then see who is available and what their response will be.
- The team leader will notify 911 dispatch that the call was received and the TEAM is responding.
- When the team leaves the base station a radio call is placed to 911 indicating a response is in progress.
- Upon arriving at the scene a radio call is made to 911 indicating arrival on scene. A radio call is also made to the incident commander requesting a location for the DART vehicle on scene. Other calls can be placed to 911 dispatch by police, sheriff or other agency's to provide a similar response by the DART Team.
